- No, not all hosts use safe mode. Safe mode is a royal pain in the a*** and should be avoided as it's like working with shackles on.
- Having your own server space is the only recommended way to do it. Using a package that crams sites into directories then forwards the domain on to them is a false economy and you will soon regret it. You can get webspace suitable for Zen for about £50/yr.
- You can use any banner you want at the top.
