That guide just about covers everything you need to know to install OSC, the only things I will add to it is if you have an SSL cert then enable SSL.

You won't have your own SSL cert unless you have a dedicated IP and have paid for a cert which isn't particularly cheap, but your host may have a shared cert that you can use so check with them first. If they don't offer the use of a shared SSL cert and you don't have a dedicated IP and you want to take card payments onsite instead of sending your customers to a 3rd party site to complete payment then consider moving hosts. If you're serious about getting involved in ecommerce then SSL is a necessity for both security and your website's image

Most control panels have the ability to allow you to password protect directories.but not all of them do. If you have such a control panel then you will need to use .htaccess and .htpasswd to do so.
