The easiest way is to use the networking wizard to configure your network. I have no idea how this works on Vista though as I have never used it.

You may also need to configure your router to allow both machines to talk to each other as many are configured by default to only allow wireless connections to connect to the net but not to other computers on the network. You will need to read your router's manual for specific details on how to configure this.
