Default Back Up Copy of Store

My store was set up using xampp and then I used firezilla to send it all to my host.

The only copy I have now is with my hosting company and I want a back up copy for myself.

I don't know how to copy the store using firezilla onto my own computer - can anyone give me very simple instructions.

Also I would like to be able to copy the store back into xampp on my own pc so I can play about with any potential changes. I don't know how to do this either - can anyone help.

Thanks

Do you not have access to it via FTP? or your control panle. You can do bak ups form either of these, Ftp is probably the quickest.

I can access my store via FTP , and I know this makes me sound really stupid, but I am not certain exactly how to get it from here to save onto my pc or a memory stick.
I don't want to make a mistake and mess up all my hard work !
I could really do with some step by step simple, fool proof , instructions.

when you look at your files via FTP YOU SHOULD have two columns.
Left hand side is files on your pc, right hand side is files on your website.
Now if you were uploading to your site you would simply transfer files from left to right? yes?
Well it works the other way too, if you are saving files from your site to your pc you simply transfer from right to left?
I can't think of a simpler way to put it, and I am very untechnical so hope you understood.

From what you are saying it looks like I am doing the right thing.

The only thing that concerns me is how long it seems to take.....5 mins or so...is this right?

When I uploaded the store I just zipped my files and transferred them over which was really quick.

doing it the other way around I am correct to just trf the whole store in one go to a file named back up. Or should I transfer folder by folder eg. admin, then includes, then images etc. etc. ? whichever way I try both seem to take an age.....which is why I am unsure.

Whole store is fine..
there are a lot of folders/files that make up zencart, so YES,
it will take a long time to download them all..
also depends how fast your internet connection is at time of downloading..
