Default Blocking IP Address

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well. I have yet another problem I need some help with please.

Today a canadian ip entered the site and has so far viewed 2500 pages Its not a bot as its not showing in the pink/purple colours so would it be best to ban it?

I have some coding I was told I should enter but I don't know where it would go. This is the coding to enter....

order allow,deny
deny from enter ip addy here
allow from all
< /Files >

Any help gratefully recieved.

You may want to add the code into the .htaccess file, though it is only possible if your server software is Apache. The .htaccess, without file extension at the end is the directory level configuration file of the Apache webserver.

That is almost definitely a bot. The reason it isn't displayed in a different colour is because it isn't on the S/W's list of known bots. If you would like to see who own it enter the IP into http://whois.domaintools.com/

If you still want to block it, then do as mentioned above and enter those lines into an .htaccess file in the document root of your site. It's not only Apache servers that this will work on, it'll work on Zeus servers too.

This may not work in htaccess if you use shared hosting... it will depend if you r host allows this or not.
