Right I've spent over 3 hours trying to download Zen cart.

I've downloade winzip and now got zencart files on my desktop in zip file.

Now trying to link sencart to my host. STUCK..............

Says do this by uploading to your html directory via FTP.
Found FTP on my host site but then can't find what to do from here.
Can anyone help - I'm utterly useless with this........

FTP isn't something to be found on the server. It's a protocol for transferring files between your PC and the server for which you'll need an FTP client. Though you've probably worked that one out by now.

Don't use web based FTP, they're prone to transfer errors and timeouts, use a proper FTP client such as FileZilla.
