Default Maximum order quantity

Hi, I have set up a shop using ZenCart but i am looking to set my total order quantity to a maximum of 300 items. I have found how to set maximum order quantity per item - but i need it to be total in shopping cart. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - stacie

Currently, in zencart, you can only set maximum number
purchase per product, not total cart.

Just as a matter of interest and only if you wish to share the information of course, why would you want to restrict your cart quantity?

Arkie....

You don't really want to restrict your total cart do you?

It is such a strange thing to do??
I sell "card inserts" as there is a demand for them and currently I am the only dedicated webshop to sell them.
The customers I am targeting are people who make 'homemade' cards.
I am trying to limit my total cart to bascially stop people buying and selling on..... and also, as i print to order, do not want to be unindated with people buying 1000's - I will not be able to keep up!!!

If you can think of another way to restrict quantities people can buy, say maximum of 300 per order - ideas are most welcome!!

I notice that you use a table rate to calculate P&P. You could make any order over 300 items prohibitively expensive as a deterrent, then if someone still persevered, at least it would make it worth your while.

It would be possible for someone to write a mod to cap the maximum number of products, but AFAIK, no one as done one yet.

Thanks for reply Lawrence!
Is it possible to maybe set '> 300' in the table rate to text stating 'not allowed' or would this require coding?
This is the first shop i have done and Zen have made it very easy for me so far - i just have no idea how to write code!!

I now know that i should have restricted my products individual to max of 10 or 20 per order - which would have helped stopped buying too many - but i did not use any products attributes so would be very time consuming indeed to change them all now!

I have re-written my "conditions of use" to state they are not for resale - not sure how much notice people will take. stacie

That would require additional coding.

Your template looks as if it's based on the Zen default one. In which case, to remove just the text link you need to edit /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/tpl_modules_main_product_image.php

Find this bit of code

PHP Code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"><!--
document.write('<?php echo '<div id="productMainImage"><a href="javascript:popupWindow(\\\'' zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE'pID=' $_GET['products_id']) . '\\\')">' zen_image($products_image_mediumaddslashes($products_name), MEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTHMEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT) . '</div><br class="clearBoth" /><span class="imgLink">' TEXT_CLICK_TO_ENLARGE '</span></a>'?>');
//--></script>
<noscript>
<?php

echo '<a href="' zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE'pID=' $_GET['products_id']) . '" target="_blank">' zen_image($products_image_medium$products_nameMEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTHMEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT) . '<br /><span class="imgLink">' TEXT_CLICK_TO_ENLARGE '</span></a>';
Then change it to this.

PHP Code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"><!--
document.write('<?php echo '<div id="productMainImage"><a href="javascript:popupWindow(\\\'' zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE'pID=' $_GET['products_id']) . '\\\')">' zen_image($products_image_mediumaddslashes($products_name), MEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTHMEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT) . '</div></a>'?>');
//--></script>
<noscript>
<?php

echo '<a href="' zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE'pID=' $_GET['products_id']) . '" target="_blank">' zen_image($products_image_medium$products_nameMEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTHMEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT) . '</a>';
But if you also want to prevent the image from being linkable, which I assume you do, then you need to change this

PHP Code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"><!--
document.write('<?php echo '<div id="productMainImage"><a href="javascript:popupWindow(\\\'' zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE'pID=' $_GET['products_id']) . '\\\')">' zen_image($products_image_mediumaddslashes($products_name), MEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTHMEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT) . '</div><br class="clearBoth" /><span class="imgLink">' TEXT_CLICK_TO_ENLARGE '</span></a>'?>');
//--></script>
<noscript>
<?php

echo '<a href="' zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE'pID=' $_GET['products_id']) . '" target="_blank">' zen_image($products_image_medium$products_nameMEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTHMEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT) . '<br /><span class="imgLink">' TEXT_CLICK_TO_ENLARGE '</span></a>';
?>
</noscript>
to this

PHP Code:
<?php
echo zen_image($products_image_medium$products_nameMEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTHMEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT);
?>
