I'm having real problems backing up my Zencart files. I can back up my database without any problems, but my Zen files are another matter.
I have tried using Ipswitch WS_FTP to download my WEB folder to a folder on my computer but it never completes the download. There's no pattern to when it stops transferring the files. Sometimes it manages 30% other times 75% and other times 10%, but never 100%. I have also tried copying the web folder and simply pasting it to a folder on my computer but same problem again, never completes. I have tried backing up these files for almost a week now, several attempts everyday, but without any success. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Arkie.... |

Don't copy the "WEB" folder, open it then copy it's contents instead. There are hidden system files that your FTP client won't be able to copy, but if you open the folder you won't be able to see them meaning you won't be able to select them for copying.

Thanks for the reply Lawrence..
Unfortunately doing what you said just makes matters worse. If I open the WEB folder and select ALL, Ipswitch expands the folders as it should but doesn't download a single one. So now I'm stuck at 0% in the status column? It gets stranger by the minute... Arkie.... |

I've just connected and downloaded your site using IPSWITCH without a problem, so the problem must be local to your PC/ISP. Have you changed any of the settings from their default values? Make sure you have it set to "Use passive mode" and set the "Startup transfer mode" setting to "Auto Detect". Also if you have a firewall on your PC, try disabling it to see if it's interfering.

Must be my PC and/or connection...
However, I think I have found a solution which may be useful to other Zencart users. A new module has been added today to Zencarts downloads that enables you to back up your files via the Zencart Admin controls. So now you can back up your database via Admin and also your PHP files etc. (to back up your database you will need the Mysql database back up module) Here's the link for anyone interested. I've tested it and it works great... Back Up My Site PHP Files Hope this helps ... Arkie... |

Sounds good the download! I shall wait and see if there are any hiccups first though before downloading, but if you can;t download anyway then you have nothign to lose
