Default shopping cart help

l am pulling my hair out how can l get rid of this, l have been into all my define pages and cant find how to sort this anywhere

You may want to add some instructions for using the shopping cart here. (defined in includes/languages/english/shopping_cart.php)

Thanks

That's because shopping_cart.php isn't a page, it isn't even an HTML file. It's a PHP language file so you can't edit it with the define pages editor you need to edit the actual file itself.

You need to FTP it from the server to your PC and open it in a plain text editor such as notepad (don't use Word, Works or any other editor that formats text) . When finished, FTP it back to the server.

It's similar to what you had to do when you uploaded the file to authenticate your Google webmaster's account but in reverse.

You start up your FTP client and navigate to the file in question in the RHS pane of the S/W. You then download said file to your PC and open it in notepad or similar, make your edits and save the file. You then upload the file back to where it came from using the method described above but in reverse. It sounds more complex than it actually is, once you've done it once you're find it easy. Make sure you have a backup of your site before hand in case you make an error.

You could do with some website editing S/W but I'm our of touch with the free/cheap ones. I use Dreamweaver which is overkill for what you need, not to mention expensive. I'll see if I can find something suitable or perhaps someone on here can recommend one that will suite your needs.

IPSWITCH is fine for transferring files and you were able to transfer a file to your server using it when you tried to activate your Google webmaster's account.

The thing that was done wrong is that you used MS Works to create the file. Programs such as Works/Word etc aren't plain text editors, they add loads of other stuff to files such as formatting controls, font definitions etc. It was also saved with a .html.doc extension instead of an .html one.

Your actual FTP was fine, it's getting into the habit of using a plain text editor such as notepad or the one that Dezina linked to to edit your files that you need to do. Once you have that mastered, a lot of things to do with your site will become a lot clearer.

I always use notepad Wendy to create a file. you can then save as a.htm file whcih meansd you can then view it and see what it will actually look like on the internet.

that won't help

I still forget I need to be looking in php files to edit, and spend hours in admin looking for what to change, especially after I've had a gap away from working on it which happens often at the moment. Then I remember (or Blush reminds me more like) that I need to find the file in ipswich, so I then spend hours finding the blasted thing (makes a nice change from searching admin tho )
