Does anyone know anything about oscommerce v3? Is it really going to be as good as they say it will be?

All I know is that it's supposed to be a complete rewrite of the code and is still in Alpha at the moment, though I imagine that the recent release of Magento may have made them revise their plans for the S/W's features. I've heard nothing about a proposed Beta release date but if I do I will post it here.
