Default Any shop carts allow bulk upload with pictures?

Hello,

I have been looking all over for a hosting provider that has a shopping cart that allows bulk uploading items to sell ALONG WITH THEIR PICTURES. I have 4,000 items to upload along with their pictureS (thumb nail and full size). I tried Network Solutions and Godaddy and they both offer uploading the data (in .csv format) but not the pictures. I have the full path to the picture stored in my data file with the item detail but no bulk uploads allow the picture to be included in the upload---I must manually add the pictures to each item after they are uploaded.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Use oscommerce/zencart with easy populate to add all your products, and upload relevant images using ftp i.e. filezilla

Default That sounds similar to the carts I already tried

I can easily upload the pictures to the appropriate storage location but what I am looking for is a way to then link those pictures to the imported product list so I don't have to do it manually. Does oscommerce/zencart allow this? For example, I would like to upload the 4,000 products along with the filename (and storage location path if needed) for the related picture. Otherwise, I still have to go to each product after it is uploaded and "attach" the appropriate picture.

Thanks,
Tom

As per my previous post, Easy Populate mod allows you to upload data for hundreds/thousands products at one time, including image location/info.

Hi Tom,

If you are looking for a fast solution I would have to agree with Dezina to either use Zencart or Oscommerce.

I also recommend trying Magento Commerce as well, as that's the next open source up from Zencart and it's really powerful. I've read somewhere that it allows for batch import and export of products as well. Take a look to see if this system suits your needs.

I hope this helps you.

Default Zencart on HostMonster

I signed up with HostMonster and gave it a try. While HostMonster is powerful in that they give you a wide variety of programs/features/scripts that you can use to customize your site/ecommerce, it seemed to require a good deal of work to get it setup. I did find how to add Zencart but then it didn't come with the Bulk update feature and I had to find it and download it to my computer. Then the harder part was trying to figure out how to get it to work with Zencart on my HostMonster account. I guess I was hoping for something easier/quicker like I got with Godaddy. I will have to work with it more before deciding on what to do next.

Tom

Hi Tom,

I think that ShopFactory might be a suitable solution for you.
ShopFactiory allows you to import data in .csv or almost any format including the path to the pictures stored in your data files with a seperate ShopFactory software tool called "Import Wizard"
ShopFactory is a client based e-commerce solution with an extensive content mangement system. It has its own shopping cart and WYSIWYG editor allowing the user to build the complete business website and/or online shop with point and click ease on their local machine. The created website and online shop can be fully build and tested locally and when ready can be uploaded to any server anywhere in the world with ShopFactory's own inbuild FTP tool. This way you can upload all the 4000 products including all the data and picures easily .
ShopFactory has a free 14 day trial available on their website at www.shopfactory.com which includes the seperate "Import Wizard" tool. In order to import all the 4000 products and pictures you have to sign up for the free "Total care" package as the free trial is otherwise limited to 20 products.
Just try out the free trial and check if ShopFactory fullfils your requirements and needs before selecting your preffered solution.

Best Regards,

Michael

Default Shopping cart software with an image upload function??

Does anyone know about the software that canvasondemand.com uses? or anything similar software with an option that allows the customer to upload the image they wish to reproduce on canvas, then once they go to checkout, there chosen product is displayed along with a thumbnail of the uploaded image be included in the shopping cart display. Does anyone know what is the name of the software that allows to do all that? Example of the website that does that is www.canvasondemand.com
