Default Argh! GoDaddy cart with Google Analytics-- help plz

Hi Guys,

SO I'm trying to get Google Analytics e-commerce/goal tracking to work on our Godaddy Quick Shopping cart and am hitting brick walls all over the place!!

I was able to insert our tracking code in the footer so we're tracking visits but can't find *anything* about linking e-commerce data... right now I'd even settle for being allowed to track a goal even.

Is this possible to do with QSC?

Please let me know your experience. I appreciate any help.

-Costas

P.S. I'm sure I don't need to mention this but, of course, GoDaddy support has been no help what-so-ever.

Hi Costas,

If you are able to access the files and if they are in HTML you should be able to copy and paste the javascript into it.

I have heard from other people's bad experience that Godaddy has awful service and if anything like spam or a large volume of traffic in one day reaches your site they will immediately take down your domain name.

If I were to recommend another domain provider, I would suggest namecheap.com
They are very reliable and cheaper than most domain providers.

I hope this helps you and I'm here to help.

To use Google Analytics eCommerce features you need to be able to access the store's source code (It's got nothing to do with the HTML as mentioned above) to tap into the transaction data, see http://www.google.com/support/google...n&answer=55528 for details.

You'll need PHP/ASP etc experience to do this depending on what the store runs on. I doubt GoDaddy give you this type of access with their hosted carts, so unless they offer the facility to add the GA eCommerce features automatically, you're probably out of luck.

You can set up goals from your Analytics account, there's no need to add anything else to your store to activate them.

If you're serious about running an online store, I suggest you use proper ecommerce software rather than GoDaddy's hosted solutions which quite frankly are a pile of crap. You're paying a monthly subscription for something when far better, more powerful and professional products are available for free!

Have a look at Magento, ZenCart or OsCommerce, they're in a different league to GoDaddy'd offerings and you don't have to pay a monthly subscription to use them.
