I interested in finding an ecommerce package the has software reseller functionality. So a software vendor could post his software for re-sale. I am sure other examples would be any vendor offering their product in a marketplace. Does anyone know of ecommerce package that might have this capability?

Have you considered online auction software?
You could use something such as phpProBid. If you disable auction sales, it'll leave a multi-vendor store system.
