Default shopfactory

anyone got any thughts on shopfactory
a client of mine has had me install it for him and it seems very good if a little clunky.
the big bug bear seems to be that you have to upload the whole thing again everytime you update something as the changes are done on client side not server side.
using shopfactory developer 5.5

I've never heard of it.

I assume by the fact that you make the mods on a client side app that it's aimed at people who want to admin their own site without having to learn how to FTP etc?

I see what you mean by "clunky", it looks very 1999 and uses frames which are a turn off for your customers as well as search engines.

I entered some dummy data to test the checkout procedure, chose "visa" as a payment option then backed out when it sent me to PayPal. I then received a page error from the central frame. When I checked the URL it was trying to display it was using http://test.brianfarrellbutchers.com/ I'd chosen test@test.com as an email address when it asked for my details so it may have picked up the "test" bit of the domain from that.

I now seem to have broken the site as I can't even get the homepage to display.

I've just been back on the site and it is working again, it must have just been a server issue when I first visited, even the http://test.brianfarrellbutchers.com/ URL works which I assume is a test subdomain and it was just purely coincidental that I used "test" in the email field.

It might simply be that the chap loves it because to him it is amazing exciting and new? Like if you spent years driving a Mini and loved it, then got given a Corsa to drive, and discovered how much easier it is to drive.
