OK people. I need some feedback as to what everyone's opinion is on the following.
I'm toying with the idea of changing the descriptions of my products, as what I have at the moment is probably the same as everyone else who uses the same dropshipper as I do. The idea obviously being to be different to everybody else.
Now, on a purely 'person who is shopping/surfing' basis, which description/lay out do you consider better/easier on the eye/more useful?

or

b) Old description http://www.theblackrhino.co.uk/epage.../Products/1634


The above are two different products by the way. I'm trying to gauge opinion before I embark on changing 700 odd product descriptions!

Hello Black Rhino, with my 'buyer's' eyes on, I personally prefer the 'new' version, but I like to think that the seller has put effort in to understand their product instead of simply using bullet points.

One thing tho, it's actually hard for me to read as the font size seems quite small.

I'd go for the first one, though I'd make the text a little larger and align it to the left instead of centering it. On some types of item I will skip the main text and go straight for the bullet points so perhaps you could make them more prominent. Also, if you wrap the text around the bottom of the image I think it would look better as well as making the page shorter in height requiring less scrolling to read the whole description.

The new description, quite definitely, it would tempt to buy much more than the old one. The text size is ok for me but I'm using a Mac which probably makes a difference. I would wrap the text as Lawrence suggested otherwise you have too much wasted space to the left and the punter has to do a bit too much scrolling. It's a professional-looking site though and that in itself will inspire confidence.

Just to thank everyone for their advice up to now and for taking the time out to check my site. Consensus seems to be for the new descriptions so this evening I set about the long process of changing them. Probably take me a couple of months (around 700 items) but I feel it will pay off in the long run.

I prefer the new description, but with larger text. You could always add the bullet points to the end of the description as a quick summary too

The new description also has the advantage of being much more search engine friendly so you should see an increase in traffic once your pages have been re-indexed after your modifications. The new style will be better all round.
