Default Time for a change?

Hi,
Our oscommerce site has been live for a few years now and we have been very happy with it's performance and most people seem to like the way it looks and works.

I know we have work to do on things like header tags, as you will find they are showing indexed pages as oscommerce and NOT IS Electronics but this is something I need to get my head around come the New Year.

My question is how do you see first the overall appearance of the site, colour, layout, search, viewed in all resolutions ? We do have a problem with the links page which we are aware of but am not sure how to right.

We have linked another site our portal site iselectronics.co.uk to the exit on our oscommerce site, what do people here think about linking sites. If you go to the iselectronics.co.uk site you will see how we have also linked it to other selling sites, does this work or is this confusing to a buyer or site use.

Our oscommerce site can be found here http://www.ise.eu.com/

and our portal site here http://www.iselectronics.co.uk/

We are looking for any constructive criticism and ideas, I know it is a big ask but it will be most helpful.

And last but not least a very merry festive seasons greetings to you all,

Sean

Visited both sites and from personal point of view,
would maybe purchase from oscommerce site as not
lover of ebay stores.
Oscommerce site looks neat, clean and tidy, and
would purchase from there EXCEPT my account button
links to site that is not your web site...suspect it is shared
ssl cert.. this would put me off from purchasing from you..
Suggest you get dedicated ip and invest in cert of your
own..SSL's can now be purchased for as little as US$19..

Only thing I don't like about site is all the white! It hurt my eyes a bit. Not sure what you can do about that though

Hello again,
Apologies for my slow reply.
I have taken the suggestions on board, thanks you.
We have made the osC site less white, by changing the border colour to grey, we feel happier with that, still clean but less in your face.

We have changed the link in our portal site to direct shopper directly to our osC site rather than our eBay store.

One last issue and that is the SSL but this is in the pipe line,

Thanks again,

Sean

I would not worry too much about the white. Don't get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with a little color but I have noticed that many of the electronic sites go with the white and professional looking pages more so than color. I am not a fan of fixed width though. Lots of wasted space that could be used for displaying more of your image width and height plus more room for text and a bit larger font.

I started out with fixed width but some items were cramped and crowded and I soon found out the extra space can be utilized quite easily. Nice development so far.
