Default Advertising

I need some advice l am running adwords at the mo and getting quite a few hits but havent got any sales yet via my website. I have investigated advertising which would be leads from london area only and they reckon they would be directing 20-40 peeps a day!!! its much the same price as adwords what do you think l would benefit from more?

The use of AdWords is an art form. Have you tried using different ad variations for each group of keywords that take the user to a different part of the site? e.g. If someone's looking for photo albums then show them an ad that mentions photo albums that takes them directly to that cat instead of your homepage.

What's the other type of advertising you mentioned? Is it online? Is it a printed wedding magazine? Is it a paid for banner on a site? Without knowing what it is makes it impossible to compare to AdWords. How successful it will be will depend on how targeted the hits it sends you are.

One thing that would help your general SEO is to set your homepage title tag. It is still set to "Zen Cart" which isn't going to help you sell what you're selling.

Swapping links with people in the wedding industry such as wedding photographers and caterers will also help drive targeted traffic to your site. Using anchor text instead of your URL in your forum sigs will help, use some of your keywords to give the search bots something to feed on every time you post a link to help your rankings for those words. Using a URL is a wasted opportunity to feed the bots some keywords. For example, what I do is use something like Shopping Cart Forum or ecommerce help forum but I will never use www.eshopforums.com as it has limited SEO value.

You can edit all your Zen files (except images) with just your FTP client and notepad. Other programs can be useful but aren't a necessity.

The advertising banner might work, the only way to know for sure is to try it then check your stats to see how many hits you receive from it and how many of them convert into sales.

Target some wedding forums perhaps? get some links form sites that compliment yours, and plug away at your local shops etc.
Vistaprint are quie good, i have also come across somelinks for some really cheap flyers too.I am just working on the design of them first before downloading and getting some flyers yippee!

Yes, it does seem rather steep for a site that only targets London but if it can generate some sales then it might be worthwhile. A better option would be to find another site in the wedding industry that's not in competition with you and exchange banners with them. It'll cost you nothing financially and you're have a more permanent ad on their site. You should check their banner first as you don't want to be lumbered with an ugly flashing monstrosity of a banner on your own site.

Could have been more expensive.

I paid £150 for an ad which was supposed to be part of a Valentines Day feature in our local paper.

My website is a family centred site with no adult content so I was a bit miffed to see the ad turn up on page 6 (no feature in site) above an ad for a lapdancing club!!!!
