Default google versus yahoo SEO

What the difference between SEO for Google and Yahoo, broadly speaking? Researching I found that yahoo are supposed to index more regularly but I've found the opposite to be true...yet I rank higher on yahoo?

Google gives more weight to anchor text links than Yahoo, whereas with Yahoo the page content is by far the most important factor. Yahoo also uses meta tag information, whereas Google gives this very little weight if any.

Yahoo only receives about 5% of search engine traffic in the UK so it's best to optimise for Google first, then tweak it for the other search engines.

Have to agree, optimise for Google and if you also do well on Yahoo, MSN and others then thats a bonus, more than 80% of all UK searches are through Google.

I'd still put content at the top of your list when optimising your web site for Google, or any search engine. Lots of relevant informative content, perhaps an articles index and pages or well maintained blog and the two main tools of choice at the moment.

Agree 100% with that. Create a great site with good content, Google and others will love it and other sites will want to link to you. Content is king as they say.

I agree go for G, however we have been doing that and yet our rankings are better on Y than on G. So methinks that maybe Y's algo is getting very similar to G's.
