Hi,
I was wondering why my site, named 'Original Vintage Adverts' was only appearing on page 20 of a Google search when I typed in 'Vintage Adverts'. It was only when I noticed that the word 'adverts' was highlighted and that I had spelt the word 'vintage' wrong in the name of my site. However my domain name is correct -(thank goodness for that!) The name of my site should read Original Vintage Adverts but I wrote Vinatge (idiot!)..here's an example when I do a 'site:mydomain' search Original Vinatge Adverts - ...YOU BET THEY ARE! A great selection of ready to frame vintage magazine ads from the early 1900's to the late 1960's. 100% satisfaction or your money back. www.original-vintageadverts.com/ - 39k - Cached - Similar pages Google has found around 135 pages with this spelling mistake ![]() I have re-submitted my site to Google this time with the correct spelling and I have changed the submitted name of the site to 'Vintage Adverts' but I have still not seen any changes. Will this work? Will Google find the corrections when crawling in the future? If not what can I do? Do I have to remove my site from Google and then resubmit? Have a great weekend. Many thanks in advance, Grant. |

Google will eventually find the new version and alter its listings accordingly. If you were able to confirm your site with Google Webmaster Tools you'd be able to delete the affected pages from the SERPs and request that they be spidered again, but as you can't do that with your current hosting, you'll have to wait until the googlebot next spiders those pages.
To give your site a boost for that phrase, try and place some links around the net on established sites using that phrase as the anchor text i.e. Vintage Adverts Google places a lot of weight on the text used in links, so every link that uses it will help you a little.

Hi, thanks for your advice.
When you say place my link on established sites, do you mean like directories or should I find some other web sites to swap banners/links with? Thanks again, Grant. |

All incoming links are useful, though directories carry little weight so it's wise to focus on placing them elsewhere. Links on link and banner exchanges effectively cancel each other out, it's better to acquire one way incoming links from pages that contain content that is related to what your site is about. Blogs can be very good for this.
