Can anyone please tell me in plain simple English how I get my lycos shop online.
I am absolutely baffeled with this FTP thing I honestly do not know what to do with it. I have read the instructions that lycos have written in the help pages and I still cannot make head nor tail of it. Do I have to upload any files?...I thought all the stuff I have done so far was saved somewhere online and just had to be 'activated' or something. All I keep getting is the lycos dog and the message saying..coming soon... Thanks in advance for any advice....I'm now off to scream at a wall! |

My knowledge of Lycos is very limited so I can't help with Lycos specific problems but, I can help with setting up FTP for you. AFAIK, the cart is pre installed with Lycos and everything else (images etc) can be uploaded via the cart's control panel, so there should be no need for FTP.
There's three pieces of information you need to configure your FTP software; the FTP server address, username and password. Once you have configured the FTP client for your server, you can then move files back and forth between your PC and the server as easily as moving files between folders on your desktop. I'll need more specific information from you to help further. It's not difficult to set up, once you've done it once, you shouldn't have any problem configuring your S/W for other servers in the future.

Thanks for your swift reply.
I've been sifting through every page and menu within the lycos package and I think I've found the page/menu where I can make my shop 'go live' without FTP. I'm not really ready to go live at the moment as I am still in the middle of listing my products. It was just something that came to mind while I was at work, thought I'd have a look and then got frustrated when I came across the FTP thingy. Hopefully when it is time, I'll be able to go online and get some feedback/tips/critisisms from some forum members about my shop Once again thanks for your time & advice. It's much appreciated. misterc. |
