goodness me, went registering with a site whose site name i have forgotten the other day!!!!

i will never act in the future without getting opinion from you guys first!!!!

just had live chats with a couple of web hosting reps and they all told me the web server location would not be an issue.

i am sceptical and am returning to this issue for now because only when i have decided whether i really am going for a web server based in the uk, i am not going to further exploring individual web hosts.

Bagi Zoltán, when you replied to my question regarding web server, did you mean that
a) when someone typed "shoes + uk" at google search, the fact of having a webserver in, say, the US would result my site in being shown on the 10th page of google?

or

b) when someone typed "shoes" and chose to search at "pages from the uk" at google search, and having a webserver in the US would result my site in being shown on the 10th page of google?

or

c) others - please specify.


also, could people further explain cons and maybe pros i will come across for having a web server physically located outside the uk please?

which one is good and will allow one action to be applied to pictures within a folder rather than hand-editing of thousands of pictures?

Basically if you request a search at google it will check your geographic location by your IP and depending on its value different search results will be served.

If you use a local google engine for instance google.co.uk, you will see that many site with co.uk will be listed high, because their geographic target match your location.
These are the major aspects which are considered when google calculate the different 'local search results':

• Use of national domain eg. co.uk
• The IP of your webserver
• The language meta tag
• Geographic classification of the domains which link to your site

Otherwise you may set your preferred geographic target location at Google sitemaps.
