Red face Complete newbie needing some advice

Hi there

I am new to this site and ecommerce. I think I saw somewhere (could have been on another site) that someone forgot to back up their website
when transferring hosts.

As a complete novice to all of this and not knowing any HTML at all would someone be able to tell me in simple terms how to do this?

Thanks
Lisa

I think the quickest way is via FTP, although I am sure someone will correct me if I 'm wrong. This is also the quickest way to upload anything to your site also.

There's two parts of the site you must backup. The file system, and the database.

To backup the file system use an FTP client such as FileZilla. I don't recommend using web based file managers for anything other than rudimentary file manipulation.

You should be able to backup your database from your hosting control panel. This would normally be done with an application called phpMyAdmin. Have a look on the net for the manual for phpMyAdmin and check out it's export functions. You could also install a Zen mod to enable you to do this from your store's admin panel.
