Default ebay ranking higher than website

I'm trying to move from ebay to my own site and am trying everything to improve my ranking. It's still very early days but i'm absolutely nowhere in terms of ranking...what shocks me more is that despite being on ebay for years the only sign of me is via my ebay blog which is only new.
..Can anyone tell me why the blog shows up before the shop on ebay and roughly how long it'll take for my site to appears on searches...(and when I should changing what i'm doing as it's not working?)

I can see your eBay store and your website on Google.

http://www.google.com/search?q=glass...e7&rlz=1I7GZEZ

You currently have 54 pages of your site indexed and your homepage even has PR1.
http://www.google.com/search?q=site%...e7&rlz=1I7GZEZ

What phrases are you using to try to find your store?

You site needs some basic SEO done to it. The first things I would do would be to make your page titles more SE friendly, add meta description tags to your pages and increase the amount of keyword rich text on each page. Another thing that will help you rank better for your chosen keyphrases is to use them as your link anchor text as opposed to your URL e.g. use something like ear rings and pendants instead of http://www.glasskanvas.com/ for all links pointing to your site.

If you do all of the above, you should start to see an improvement in a matter of weeks, though it'll usually take a few months for the benefits to really kick in.

Once you've done all that, you can continue to fine tune your site with various techniques to make it more search engine friendly and acquire more incoming links to it.

Two tools that'll help you are, Google's Webmaster's Tools, which among other things will allow you to submit sitemaps directly and Google Analytics which will show you how visitors are finding your site, where they come from and what they do when they get there.

If you read through some of the threads on SEO on this forum, you will find other tips that will help you to rank better.

Wow...what a reply! Thanks for taking the time for that.
..As a direct search the site comes up fine it's the keywords people are likely to use to find it that I think is the problem. Obviously jewellery is too big a term to try and get ranking on it dichroic glass or fused glass jewellery were i'd like an improvement.
The blogs come up before the actual sites...Is there anything wrong with that?...ie do people lose interest in clicking through?

Your site is in position 852 for "dichroic glass" and 412 for "fused glass jewellery" on google.com, which means you are very unlikely to be found by anyone searching for those phrases.

You can check the first 100 pages of Google for your chosen search phrases with this tool http://www.rnk1.com/

Put more text on your pages to give the search bots more to feed on and to also to dilute the number of times you have "dichroic glass" mentioned on each page, as it may look like you are keyword spamming which Google will penalise you for. Do your meta description tags in the header of each page and also use anchor text for your links as described above, like dichroic glass jewellery. You could start by changing your forum sig link. Use key phrases for all of your inbound links as Google and other search engines place a lot of weight on the actual text used.

One place to pick up a lot of cheap one way links is from http://info.vilesilencer.com/main.ph...o-friendly.php only use the free directories and those that don't require a reciprocated link. Keep building your links using anchor text, but most important of all is to increase the amount of relevant text on your pages. Learn how to use <H#> tags effectively.

Search engines love blogs because of the amount of fresh text they tend to produce. Use yours to full advantage by discussing particular products/ranges and slipping in anchor text links straight to the relevant pages rather than your homepage.

Do all of the above, then check your position on Google using the tool mentioned above and I'm sure you will soon see your site rising through the SERPs.

hi i just wanted to say 54 indexed pages is not bad at all, and i wanted to add, with ebay, its real value is one its reputation, and 2 its community, cuz everyone knows ebay, if people are on ebay basically it means theyre already on the market to shop, what you may try is to try to feed off the ebay users by offering links to your website, i see this many times, maybe encouraging shoppers by not charging ebay sales commision on the same product in your website as well, i too am about to venture into this and i know its not easy so best of luck

Like mentioned above you do need to make all the SEO changes on your page. I would honestly write a couple articles on ezinearticles, goaticles, and articlecity. Also, use your anchored text that you are trying to rank for, as well. You must remember to put your keywords in the title and sprinkle them throughout the article. Also, it helps to bold and italicize your keywords. That will help you a lot. Don't think that it is going to happen over night, but if you can get 3 articles to all article directories you should be fine. Check your ranking in a month and guarantee you will see some good results. This is a common problem and I have seen this problem time and time again.

I stumbled across this video about using eBay to help get a presence known for your eCommerce site.

I need some help. Can you tell me if there is a ranked list on how PR works and how each factor is weighted on %? For examples is inbound links #1, and carries 75% of the ranking? Or is this truly an unknown to everyone. Thanks for the help
