Default paypal opinions

Hello everyone.

I am an ecommerce nube and I want to do a little buying and selling on ebay .
It seems that Paypal is a hot topic in this day and age , some people love it and some people despise it .
some have even gone so far as to put up a website called paypalsucks.com.

Now I would say someone has to be pretty pissed to go to that length.

I am just looking for opinions , I read that Paypal has cleaned out private bank accounts and can shut down and freeze the assets of a paypal account for 180 days . These are pretty scary things to consider for a beginner .
Yet the other side of the coin is that Paypal is a no brainer for someone wishing to buy something securely on the internet and paypal at least has the reputation of not selling credit card information to criminals .

Anyone know of some good articles I can read other than the paypal TOS .

I try to research stuff before posting so I don't wast people's time by asking questions that have already been answered.

All opinions much appreciated .

Paypal is always good to consider as a back up/additional payment method as many people either have an account or feel more secure using a name they know. The downside is many people feel it is too closely linked to eBay and by that alone seems to cheapen the offer. It's one of those catch 22 situations.

You have to offer paypal to sell on ebay. I use the word sell very loosely, ebay is no longer a good option for the small seller. You are better to put your efforts into your own website. While you are messing around on ebay for six months with very little reward, your website could be six months old and climbing up google as you learn what needs to be done with it.
Use paypal to start your site, then apply for a merchant account with sagepay.

Couldn't agree more...well said, eBay is no longer viable to many as it is moving towards the big brands and driving out the smaller traders with its comply or else policies.

Get your own website and be in control of your own destiny rather than have eBay/Amazon own it.
