I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a cart system that is capable of handling complex package options...

i.e. including the ability to offer multiple choices for custom products in a list, with price changing options and without pricing changing options, the ability to choose whether you want to offer a multiple choice list, drop down menus, single forced selections, etc...

Hi -

I've only looked at X Cart so far. It isn't even close to being able to handle complex "product building" options.

To try to be more specific, I need:

A customer chooses Event Package B for $600.00.

A customer then must choose which 3 classes to attend, at no extra charge.

A customer then can choose a dinner show upgrade for an additional $50.00 ( available with this package only...customer may choose multiple quantities ). A customer then may choose type of dinner upgrade from a selection.

I know of one shopping cart system that supports advanced options for product building, but it's remote hosted only, a bit pricey, and otherwise a real pain.

You could take a look at the magento thread, this cart is open source so free.I know Lawrence is testing it out.I am sure he would be only too glad to give you some more info on its posibilities.If you used Zencart you can add a mod for attributes.You can have as many attributes as you like.That might beone way round it.I use zencart and could say have colour, size, text for personalised top, and no doubt more if I wanted. You decide what attributes to have and what to call them etc.

Our cart does offer unlimited product variation groups and values along with the ability to charge separately for each variation and calculate weights based on selections.

I like the idea though of offering a choice of display options so it's certainly something I'll look at for the next release...
