This thread might be helpful to others with similar problems. The only posts that are deleted are those that are spam or offensive. I have no reason to delete this thread.

Okay, I was worried about the things you mentioned earlier.

hmmph ... notice no comment about me not being a pest

< wonders if I can think up some offensive posts ... I've never been banned from a forum before .... NOPE my mind is too pure >

No need to worry about it. There's hundreds of those pages out there and there's not a lot that can be done about them. They're created automatically by bots, as soon as one is shut down, another dozen pop up.

If you want to be barred from a forum, there's many ways you can get that experience without spamming or being offensive e.g. go on an ultra religious forum and wax lyrical about the joys of atheism, keep posting about how tasty rare steak and bacon sarnies are on a vegan's forum, or dare to mention another auction site on eBay's forum I'm not suggesting you do any of these of course!

Oops

... didn't read the last bit but nevermind I made my tag name Lawrence

... not sure I should mention this but I think I linked back to this forum

I've just finished this download and installation, done a restart and the same error message is appearing. It didn't ask me when downloading to put Steam back so as that was taken off (just left some files the add/remove left where they were)

I tested and the game works but this error hasn't gone away.

I am not sure which driver link to update "I have a ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 SERIES but after clicking the driver link, xp home/professional, radeon I can't find the 200 series"

You can download the driver and all related S/W for your graphics card from http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/..._14616,00.html

Thanks Laurence, I'm sorry to be stupid but I've looked at that page that came up and clicked on the demo and learn more but I have no idea what I'm doing or where I should go to download what I need.

You should click "Support & Drivers".

I clicked that link a few posts ago and that is the one that doesn't have the correct ati radeon xpress 200 series but comes up with options that don't have the same name so I can't download anything as I'm not sure what's what.

I'm giving up for the evening now. I've been fiddling with this yesterday and all today and I'm fed up with it and I expect you are too.

I appreciate all your help.

Thank you

Octopia

What you have to do on that page is select "Get Latest Drivers" (Under Graphics Support heading) You will then have a list of operating systems to choose from, select your OS (XP home I presume?), this will then populate the next box with a list, this is possibly where you went astray, you don't select Radeon, you select "Integrated/Motherboard", when you do this it will populate the next box with a list and voila, you will find "Radeon Xpress 200" on it.

I must admit, it is a bit confusing because you naturally select "Radeon" from the second list, but your graphics isn't handled by a card as such, it's part of the motherboard's chipset hence why you select "Integrated/Motherboard" instead. It's not obvious at all, I couldn't find it myself at first.

I've just emailed you as I was about to switch off computer but I wanted to thank you for all your hard work.

I'm going to print this off and fiddle tomorrow.

I'm tired and fed up with this as been tinkering all day and most of yesterday too until 10pm.

Night and big THANK YOU

Octopia
