Default Re: Error Message: MOM.EXE -.NET Framework Initializing Error

Update:-

I followed the instructions and downloaded the information but the error remains.

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca.../integrated-xp

the error message is:-

Could not load file or assembly 'MOM.Implementation, Version=2.0.2827.38662, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762e' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

When installing and following the instructions I now have Steam and Earthsim on my system, which must be something to do with games.

I found a number for Camberley and have spoken to a support person and have given them the link here (so he can read everthing) plus filled out a support ticket with all the information and hopefully they can advise what to do next.

Part of me thinks why did I ever download this stupid demo game, why did I bother to sort out this error and just leave it as an annoyance and NOW my flipping computer chair is broken and I'm typing like a munchkin .... reaching up high to type.

Any ideas welcome.

I've found this.

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonx-xp.html

This should solve the missing file problem. If you have their support people on the case, then it'll be wise to wait until you hear back from them before proceeding.

I've made it a favourite but will hold fire until support rings me back as you advised.

Well I am about ready to chuck the towel in

I have just phoned support and been told I didn't speak to a David that he hasn't spoken to anyone English today, so I must have been having a nightmare when I gave all the information over to them and must have been delusional when I gave contact details and was promised a return call when he had had a chance to speak to his colleagues...

The upshot is ... I am supposed to do the following but I wanted to check with you first as I'm ready to chuck this computer at the nearest wall or burst into tears!

MOM.implementation or CCC.implementation appear after installing Catalyst Software Suite

Solution:
To workaround this issue, please do the following:

Uninstall Catalyst Control Center
I can do this from add/remove programmes

Reboot

Uninstall .Net Framework 2.0
On add/remove programmes I now have version 2 and version 3 so I can remove both v2 and v3 BUT what about the windows updates that insisted I put them on after downloading version 3?

Reboot

Reinstall .Net Framework 2.0 from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Reboot

Reinstall Catalyst Control Center
Told to go to the link that we did before and download the Catalyst Software Suite

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca.../integrated-xp

Reboot

Is this right before I do it?

That should work, though I imagine just uninstalling the catalyst control centre and reinstalling would work too as that is the part that's causing the problem. To be on the safe side I suggest you follow their advice as it's their software that caused the issue in the first place and they will know it's quirks. One thing that does surprise me is that the told you to reinstall .NET Framework v 2 rather than v3 as v3 is obviously more up to date, though there might be compatibility issue that we're unaware off. You may in the future want to install a program that requires v3 so if there is an issue with v3 it may may cause a problem when you update it. By the time that happens, your son would have probably moved onto another game anyway.

Rule No.1, Never install state of the art games on your work computer.
Rule No.2, Never let anyone else lose on your work PC - You've got more chance of getting your hands on my wallet than one of my computers!

LOLOL Thank you for that. It's making me giggle, which believe me after the cr*p 3 days I've had fiddling with all this is a huge achievement

I'm going to do it now so fingers crossed it works and when I download from that link again I think (?) it had an option not to do steam or earthsim so I won't. They seem to be about downloading games so that isn't going to happen again.

Will report back with hopefully a happy face later but I've learnt my lesson.

It seems to be a common problem. This site is is now receiving more hits from search engines with "mom.exe" in the search phrase than any other word. Just have a look at the view count compared to older threads http://www.eshopforums.com/f42/ I'm glad other people are finding this thread of use.
