We all have our favourite Free anti virus software, we have always used the free Avast and if a customer asked about free av we would suggest that they take a look at Avast. Yesterday AVG phoned to ask us if we would like to be a reseller for there software, I have never used it and would appreciate anyones feedback on it. I know they have a free av but have never tried it. I read in the small print that if we agree to resell there product we must not recommend anyother even free software, is this normal practice, and would it be best to remain inpatial,

I've never used AVG though some people swear by it. I've read reports of people who've had problems with malware that's gone through it as if it wasn't there though. I use Kaspersky, I've never had a problem with it and if you check the AV reviews it always comes near the top if not at the top of the lists.

Personally, I wouldn't let a company tell me what I can and cannot say even if I am a reseller for them.

As for free AV, I'd wouldn't touch them myself. My computers are too important to me to leave their security to free AV S/W.

Used AVG Free edition for about 4 years..never had problem with it,

I've used free AVG since it's very first release and can't praise it highly enough.

Never had any problems with conflicts with other software and it's worked with all windows operating systems so far including Vista.

In my 15 years on the internet I have yet to get a virus that wasn't picked up by AVG and it's updates are comprehensive and regular.

With regard to being a reseller, I have to agree with Lawrence and Dezina. As good as the software is, there's no way I would let them dictate reselling terms.

I was using Trend Micro Pccillin for quite a few years, had been hear from a few people that AVG free edition was very good. it still took a couple of years for me to change, i just wasn't too sure that a free anti virus program would be as good.

i've been using AVG for about 2 years now and i think it's great and just as good as Pccillin, maybe it doesn't have some of the bells and whistles but seems to be all that is needed, theres been no trouble with it at all.

i suppose its a little like Zen Cart in that it performs really well and is FREE...

But if they want you to sell only their software and now other then thats a little restrictive, probably the worst thing i've heard about AVG....
