Jason Cross, over at ExtremeTech has published an article on his experieces with Mac User and also very briefly on his Mac. Many of his sentiments are sound and echo my own feelings about Mac Zombies and Apple worshippers. One of the cool things he mentions is that he actually spends equal time in Mac OS and Windows via BootCamp on his Macbook Pro. Before you decide to take a shot at me or Jason, let me tell you that I've worked with Macs since the days of the Mac Classic. I like Macs, I just dont like the uneducated and idiotic baltherings of the "Apple did it first and best" crowd. Pop on over to extremetech and have a read...Read the latest news, opinion and tech reviews at Kickstartnews

There's some very valid points in the Extreme Tech article. I've met a few "Apple Zombies" who treat everything that Apple says and does as gospel. Apple have done much for the computer industry that is to be applauded, but not everything they have done is as original or innovative as their marketing department would have you believe. Many of the innovations that Apple have been given credit for were around long before Apple adopted them, the difference is that Apple tend to be far better at marketing them than the original innovators.
In fact, some of what Apple does just plain sucks such as much of their PC software that thinks it has the God given right to take over your computer when the only reason you installed it in the first place was to play a single file format. All I want to do is play MPEG-4 files, I really have no desire at all to use iTunes or any of the other resource hogging software they will try to force you to install if you're not careful. If you are careful, you can avoid some of the Apple hazards but what is impossible to avoid are the Apple ignoramuses who seem to be everywhere, even in your local pub! These people will preach to all and sundry about how much better their Mac is than your PC but when asked why? They come up with little more than it looks better, has a fancy GUI and is virus and spyware proof (not true). Even if you mention some of the PC's architectural flaws that held back it's development for years such as the 640KB barrier (there's still a memory hole between 640KB & 1024KB to this day!) you're given a blank look and told yet again how much nicer the user interface is, so you can't even discuss the PCs short comings with these people on any level higher than a discussion about the aesthetics of the machines and whatever pro Mac hearsay they may have heard. This isn't a criticism of Macs or even the average Mac user but an observation of a certain section of the Mac buying public with very little technical knowledge who perceive ownership of a Mac as the equivalent of owning a Prada handbag.

hmmm, don't want to get too much into this debate but....
![]() I know someone who is very technical and experienced, a bit of a computer whizz and no its not me ![]() Well they swear by a mac, although they have top of the range. Me, I can't use them as they do my head in. But they are also popular for design though aren't they? I almost did a degree in computers a few years ago.i went for some taster sessions and they had a load of macs that the art department used.
