That's exactly what it meant and shows that they have absolutely no knowledge of the Distance Selling Regulations that online sellers are bound by. The seller is responsible for the goods reaching the buyer in a good and usable condition. If they don't, then the seller must refund the cost and pursue a claim for loss or damage with Royal Mail or whichever other delivery service they used. It isn't the buyer's responsibility to do that, once the item is paid for their side of the contract ends..

I've seen similar comments on feedback. Like when someone gives a neutral because they waited weeks for delivery and the seller replies with something like "I apologise on behalf of Royal Mail"

And this one surely takes the biscuit. I was intending to bid, but then scrolled down to read the rest. Unbelievable!
"I ALWAYS GET PROOF OF POSTAGE WITH YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS ON STAMPED AND CHECKED BY THE CASHIER, OR A PRINTED RECEIPT. IF YOUR ITEM IS LOST OR DAMAGED IN THE POST I WILL SEND YOU THE PROOF OF POSTAGE, I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. I AM FED UP WITH BLAGGERS SAYING THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEIR ITEM UNTIL I INFORM THEM I HAVE RECEIPT OF POSTAGE, ALL OF A SUDDEN IT ARRIVES, THEN THEY LEAVE NEG OR NEUTRAL FEEDBACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS CONDITION, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES BID ON ANY OF MY ITEMS.TIME WAISTERS ARE NOT WELCOME." Kate |

He sounds like a charming fellow. eBay should clamp down on these cowboy traders but they are more concerned with sellers linking to their websites than people breaking the law.
On eBay I did 1600+ transactions, to 1400+ members. The vast majority were sent without proof of postage (due to laziness and lack of time ). Out of those transactions, only six ever went astray, two of which were later returned to me by the post office, two later turned up at the buyer's place leaving two that vanished. When you take into account the amount of time I saved by not having to queue up in the PO to get proof of postage, replacing two packages was an acceptable loss.As you can see, I still had a 100% record at the end of it http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayIS...me=STRK:ME:UFS It does depend on what you're selling though. If I was selling Playstation games then I'd want Securicor to deliver them ![]() If he's that concerned about it, he should send it recorded delivery. Doing what he has done, will only discourage people buying from him which is exactly what has happened with Kate. He needs to study How To Sell Online 101

I have done a search on Ebay found what I wanted and then when I opened the listing, there is a tiny little description and the rest of the page is all about TOS and what they will do to me if I do not pay etc etc etc....mostly the story of their recent bad experience with a seller I did not know and for some reason, they think I need all that emotional baggage when I look at their item.
Just click the back button and they lose a sale. They spend most of the pages threatening me and one liner description with one tiny hard to see photo of the item they are selling. That just does not make any sense to me. Alana

If these people put half as much energy into describing their items as they put into their TOS, they would be a lot more successful and probably have far few problems with their customers due to them having a better idea of what they are buying and it's condition. Treating every customer as a potential scammer is no way to encourage sales.
BTW Welcome to the forum Alana. That's a couple of nice looking sites you have there.

Thanks for the compliments and the welcome Lawrence.
I read one the other day that said if better ask before you bid if you do not understand my instructions and terms otherwise you will not receive a refund and may get negative feedback if you return negative feedback to me for something you did not bother to find out. Some of these product selling pages are just horrible! Alana </pre>

What a lot of the sellers don't seem to realise is that when it comes to feedback, the buyers hold all the cards. If you are just a buyer or you're using a separate account from your business account for personal purchases, then the odd neg F/B isn't going to make any difference to you at all as you'll still be able to buy what you want at the same price you would have done if you still had a 100% record, whereas, if you're a seller with a blemished record, you could lose a potential BIN sale due to a neg or not receive the same price on an auction listing as you would have done with a perfect score due to some potential bidders being discouraged by your neg(s). Unless it's seriously bad, negative feedback only affects a selling account, not a buying account. I'm sure there's probably people out there who will neg sellers who use threatening TOS just out of spite. The only thing these sellers achieve with their bad attitudes, is to shoot themselves in the foot with their nonsense.
