Default UK cannot win sales war.

You know the reason the UK is in such a financial mess today is the savings interest rates at under 1% are not making people save, they wont save if they feel the money is not earning from being in the Banks.
But the big problem is that when people in the UK do spend this money it hurts the UK markets, because every item people buy is from another area of the world, weather it be food, clothes, cars, steel, Computers, TVs so imports are high, exports are low, we all know unless you make things you have nothing to export.
The way things look the UK cannot ever be a big trading place again, so yes spend your money as you are, but your helping China and others to get richer.

The other big problem for UK business as far as I see it is the Bank on England's base rate maybe at an all time low however the high street banks are doing nothing to help businesses grow by keeping there interest rates high, we need investment to grow but this will never happen when it is so expensive to borrow.

sadly the cost of living is simply too high for manufacturers to continue in this country, not when they can be have good made at fraction of the cost even after import duties are made.
The government could introduce quotas for imports and subsidies for uk industry, but this will only push the price up even further for the end consumer thus pushing the cost of living up even further.catch 22 I am afraid.
Something need to be done drastically .
I was talking to a 'local politician' this week and they told me where I live that 70% of the workforce are made up of civil servants, which I think is appaling. Not that they are civil servants but that when I was growing up we had shipyards, mines, factories etc, now we have nothing and the government has not put anything back.
We now have hge umemployment in the under 25' s with no hope for alot of them as they is no industry to go into and even those with degrees are stuggling. shall be an interesting election I think? can't wait to hear what they all have to say when they spin their speeches

I have just heard that even good old BT the phone group are to rip us all off again too, after putting phone rental up by over 17% in the last year inc VAT they after taking more from us are stopping the 6pm off peak call times, it will start at 7pm (an hour later) because they found more people use the phone at 6pm than at any other part of the day.
So here we are again folks, british people pay more than any other EU country phone system, and still we get less for the money we pay, rip off al the way.

We have as far as our business concern been using a phone system called X-lite from the PC with a voip handset plugged into a USB socket, it is very clear, you can pay as little as £10 by credit card set up your own number and make calls to USA etc or UK land-lines for weeks, then top up again, we only put around £30 per year on x lite and we have never run out of credit.
BT sadly are digging a big hole now to drop in, because the UK have so much choice from cheaper firms that BT can not win this war.
