Kate did suggest that a Furby could be used as a substitute for a wife and runs on batteries. What's a man to think when given a description like that?

That's the advantage of having no kids, you don't have to deal with the mass marketing nonsense that's targeted at them or the guilt of not getting sucked in to spending a fortune to keep them happy.[/quote]

I have 2 kids that are both adults now and I never got sucked into all that child-centred marketing.

My son would see the TV ads and say "I bet that toy isnt as good as it looks when you get it home" and he was only about 4.

He had an allowance rather than pocket money by the time he was around 7 and bought clothes from charity shops - so long as the clothes were black and has never bought designer anything.

He is coming up for 26 and still has the same shopping habits

It got hijacked by Lawrence and Phil wearing their MCP hats. Isn't it always the same? Even started out that way, way back. Woman, can't quite reach apple. Man comes along - "Let me reach that." Reaches. Apple looks good. Takes a bite. Loud voice booms out - ADAM! Man mumbles, 'It was her, mate, not me, she tempted me to get it."

Yep. Always the same. Yada, yada, yada.

MCP? I have you know, I'm not a Microsoft Certified Professional nor will I ever be as there's no way on Earth I'd ever take a test set by Microsoft!

As for Eve and the Forbidden fruit, Adam was nowhere near the tree when that event occurred. It was Eve who tried to blame a serpent for her lack of judgement.

A talking serpent? Who'd believe a far fetched story like that?

Women have always been the greater sex when you think about it.
Look at Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, Marie Curie, Florence Nightingale,Dian Fossey,Rosa Louise Parks, Mother Teresa, Diana Princess of Wales, Queen Victoria, nefertiti, queen sheba, Boudicca, in fact take a look here
http://www.distinguishedwomen.com/subject/field.html I coul dbe here all day!
But honestly, women can have a man eating out of the palms of their hands in no time, but can a man honestly say he can do the same
unless of course he happens to be brad pitt then that is a whole different story

Joan of Arc was a child who believed that God appeared to her in visions and managed to convince the French that it was true and ended up being burned alive by the English.

Cleopatra was dominated by men, Julius Cesar and Mark Anthony come to mind then she she committed suicide with the aid of an Asp.

Marie Curie only has the fame she has because she is a woman. She helped her husband Pierre Curie discover Polonium and Radium. There are 117 elements in the periodic table, many of which are far more useful than the two discovered by the Curies but can you name a single discoverer of any of the other 115? Why do you think that is? It's because they were discovered by men. Marie wasn't even nominated for the Physics Nobel prize, it was only after Pierre insisted that his wife should share it with him that her name was put on it. The Nobel prize for chemistry which followed some years later was for the same thing as the physics one and it's been debated that it was only awarded out of sympathy for the suffering they endured, BTW Pierre also suffered from radiation poisoning though he died in an accident before the radiation finished him. He was the more renowned scientist, it was his field not hers that they won awards for so why is she more famous than her husband? Because she's a woman!

Florence Nightingale, I'll give you that one.

Diane Fossey, a great woman who died for her cause.

Rosa Louise Parks - Martin Luther King !!!

Mother Teresa - http://members.lycos.co.uk/bajuu/
http://www.secularhumanism.org/libra...elds_18_1.html
http://www.salon.com/sept97/news/news3.html I could go on, but I think you get the picture. Don't believe the hype!

Princess Dianna - She married a prince, had countless affairs. had her picture taken a couple of times a month at some charity do then died in the back of a limousine with an Arab play boy.

Queen Victoria - We probably had more wars during Victoria's reign than any other time in history, of these wars were the two opium wars which don't tend to be taught in schools as it's one of our more shameful historical endeavours where the UK went to war with China for the right to supply opium to the Chinese despite their government trying to stop the trade. The British were the biggest drug dealers the World has ever known and the men doing the dealing were doing it in Victoria's name! She also inherited her position and didn't earn it.

Nefertiti - Not an awful lot is known about her, so what exactly is she great for?

Queen of Sheeba - King Solomon

Boudicca went on a rampage to avenge her daughters, had a few successes then was killed by the Romans.

If you'd mentioned some really great women such as Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightly, Elly McPherson, Elizabeth Hurley etc, etc then I might have been stuck for a reply but all the ones you mentioned aren't really that great compared to men in the same field.

I'm now going to go on holiday for a while before I get lynched by the women on here.

ok the only great thing angelina has ever done is manage to get her claws into brad pitt! adopting several kids from third world countries simply doesn't do it for me, not when there are countless children in this country and no doubt america too that would love a home and someone to call mam, so please don't get me started on that one! Seems to be the 'celebrity' thing to do these days.
As for the others you mentioned say no more.you need a long long holiday if yu thnk they are great or were you just talking about their bra sizes

You are so wrong, the greatest thing Angelina ever did was to dress up as Lara Croft

Sorry to bump an old thread, but it was one of the first I read and this post had me in hysterics! I have to agree with the ladies here - us women are certainly getting more competitive business wise.

There is a big prmotion where I live through busines links aimed only at women.lOTS OF RADIO ADVERTS ETC AND EVENTS to encourage women to go into business. You see what men fail to realise is women can multitask. Men on the other hand, and this has been proven, can only do one thing at a time.
I mean how many men can have a conversation on the phone, whilst sending an email, whilst cooking tea and helping kids with homework, and watch tv!:

That's not true! Most men are quite adept at using the TV remote while drinking beer.

I have to argue on that point, Men actually have to pause from drinking their beer to use the remote, an observation I have made
