Default Why don't people read?

I have just come back form a weeks holiday. I thought long and hard about what message to put on my site.I opted for a note on the log in page, in BOLD, that no orders would be sent out until Monday coming due to stocktaking
So I return home to a bumper sales
and...... Someone who ordered and asked if I could confirm delivery by friday, yesterday that is! Why didn't she read before she registered and paid!

If you were truly dedicated to your business, you'd take your laptop on holiday with you

I was in the middle of nowhere for a month in Mozambique, 400 miles from the nearest city, 3 miles from the nearest town with no running water or electricity and I still managed to get connected!

We had to run a generator to charge the battery on the laptop though!

Tambuti van verify this because I was visiting her son at the time.

It goes to show that where there's a will there's an internet connection!

It was the only form of electronic entertainment available. There was no TV, no radio, even if there was it wouldn't have been much use to me because it would have been in Portuguese unless I could have picked up the BBC World service or something coming from Zimbabwe. Almost every bar you went into that had a tape player or MP3 with speakers was playing Bryan Adams! They wouldn't just play it once, they would keep repeating it time and time again. Bryan Adams is a mega star out there! How bizarre is that? I guess it's a bit like the Germans and The Hoff.

If I ever hear "Everything I do...." again, I won't be responsible for my actions.

But did you camp for a month without electricity?

We only ran the generator for about an hour a day (petrol is even more expensive there than it is here!) to charge various batteries, pump the water we had collected from the local lake up to a water tower and chill the fridge so we could drink fluids that were below 30c.

I could put up with all that and the 35c+ heat, but the mosquitoes were a nightmare. I had three resident geckos in my hut who were more than welcome to stay and feast on the insect life because just about every mozzy in the area came to taste the new piece of meat in town.

2 weeks without electric, cept there were electric showers in a block and a TV plugged into the ligher socket

mozzies, theres a thing, and they seem to be here too and biting, and getting bigger, but I don't think they would be as bad as the ones the geckos there were eating. You must have sweet blood too

We had the choice of hot or cold showers.

If we wanted a cold shower (Preferable in those conditions) we'd have one in the morning just after the water had been pumped up to the water tower which was basically a giant plastic water container on 30' stilts. If we wanted a hot shower then we'd wait until the afternoon when the sun had heated the water.

It wasn't just the mozzies, there were jumping spiders, caterpillars, blister beetles, scorpions all of which can give you a very nasty bite/sting and several bugs that even David Attenborough would probably have difficulty identifying. That's not to mention the danger of stepping on a land mine if you went wandering off into the wilderness.

Saying all that, it was still fun.
